Electric cooling in Maastricht on the Vrijthof and the Great Market

The municipality of Maastricht is also on the way to zero emission city logistics in Maastricht!

Finding suitable logistics solutions for emission-free supply of city centres by 2025 is also an issue for the city of Maastricht. In addition to the objective of reducing CO2, NOx and particulate matter emissions from city logistics to zero, improving road safety and accessibility and reducing noise pollution are also important. European legislation even states that by 2050 only emission-free vehicles will be allowed to enter the city.

This new approach to urban logistics also requires active contribution to the interpretation of logistics solutions. This also includes 'charging station for fresh produce', a charging facility for cooling lorries while stocking cafes and restaurants in the city centre.

This is the main motivation for installing four StreetPlug charging facilities on the Vrijthof and six on the Great Market in Maastricht. Lorries can switch off the engine, but the cooling continues - no noise and air pollution! The Christmas market or other events can take place there as usual, the charging facilities are no obstacles in this beautiful historic city centre, the street scene is not affected. It is also intended for taxi companies to charge here in the future.
